My name is Hyehwan Ryu. My parents gave to me. My older brother and I have same letters in our names which is ‘hwan’. In addition, my two cousins’ names also include ‘hwan’. It is kind of our family tradition and that means bravery.   Honestly, I don’t love my name. Even though I know my parents spent a long time contemplating choosing the name, but it’s too difficult. When I was a child, no one could spell my name, and they could not remember it, either. So I used to cry because I thought that nobody remembered me. However, now I’m getting used to liking my name abroad. I realize my name is not very difficult compare to other Korean names for foreigners. While many foreigners can pronounce my name, they cannot pronounce many other Korean names. Furthermore, my friends can pronounce, spell, and remember my name. There are three Chinese words in my full name. They are “Liu” “Yi” and “Weng”. Let me tell you how different my name is. “Weng” is my family name. In China, few people have this family name and most of them are in the small town of my hometown.         My name is Jordan. I think this name is really common. Because many people in this country whom is also call ‘Jordan’. The story of my name is about the famous athlete, Michael Jordan. My father told me that he gave this name for me, because he loves to watch The NBA and he loves Michael Jordan so much. Therefore, he gave this name for me. An Amazing Name My name means kindness and honesty. My grandmother gave me this name when I was a child. She chose this name because it meant a lot to her. That is why she used to tell me that this name was magic because she could see something huge in me. She wanted to give this name to her daughter. However, she just had two children. Moreover, my grandmother told my father that when he had a daughter, she desired him to name her Annie because it means hopes and happiness. My name is u Tan. It looks like this: in Chinese  谭卓瑜 . My name was given to me by my father. My mom told me that my father looked in the dictionary the whole night and he decided to use  yu (瑜) as my last character. Yu in Chinese which means beautiful jade. My father hoped that I could have a pretty face and wonderful life. In addition, my name  yu  has a story in history. A famous person named Yu Zhou he was a very outstanding leader in ancient China. For example, my sister’s name is  Zhuoyan  Tan, and my cousin’s name is  Zhuohuai  Tan. All of us in our generation have the character  Zhuo , which means outstanding. My father hopes that I could be more confident and distinguished.    I like my name because it shows my parents’ love and their expectation. I will do my best and not let them down.   

 A Shiny Stone In English, my name means a gift from God. In Urdu, it means a specific or special thing, which is very gleaming, even more than a diamond. In Spanish, it means day or tomorrow. I feel that my name is very popular in different countries. But in Pakistan, it is a very unique name. Usually, parents that have only one child have the name, Anaya. In my family, I’m the only one who has this name, no one had it before. My name doesn’t have a back story really. My father chooses my name, but my mother didn’t like it. She wanted to call me Laiba or Sameen. Laiba means a beautiful woman and Sameen means precious and expensive. In fact, she still calls me by her favorite names. I have at least four different names. My father calls me Mano, my siblings call me Manay, and friends call me as Anaya. When I grew up, I felt so mortified when everyone calls me by different names. But now, I’m used to it.
