The Story of Me

        My name is Jordan. I think this name is really common. Because many people in this country whom is also call ‘Jordan’. The story of my name is about the famous athlete, Michael Jordan. My father told me that he gave this name for me, because he loves to watch The NBA and he loves Michael Jordan so much. Therefore, he gave this name for me. To be honest, I don’t love my name, because I’m not a sporty person and I can’t believe that my name just come from my father’s favourite basketball player.
        When I was a child, I never told my name to anyone. I just told my teacher and my friends to call me my full name, so they just know me as “Chak Shing Chan” without “Jordan”. At that moment I just wanted to hide my name. Because I didn’t want anyone to discuss my nickname until I come to United States.
        In fact, it was only when I came to United States that I started using my name “Jordan”, because I think “Jordan” is a very common name in The United States. Also, I think calling me “Jordan” is better than call my full name in this country, so I have finally accepted to use my name as Jordan.

    Hi Jordan, I like your name, It is also very common name in Colombia. However, you should like your name because your father gave it to you. I also like Michael Jordan but I do not watch that much basketball. I think you should like your name because it is something meaningful for your father.

I have lived in Chicago almost three months.
