A Decision, An Ending

To begin with, in 1990 some members of my family successfully immigrated to Chicago to have a new life because of new opportunities. Though my parents and I still lived in China at that time, our lives had great improvement because the family members, who lived in Chicago, would send us some money each month. Due to this situation, my parents started to have savings, and it improved our family’s living conditions. Moreover, it alleviated the financial burden of my parents, so my parents could have hope to create a good life rather than just complaining in a mood of hopelessness. At that moment, worker’s income was low and my parents spent all the salary buying food, which made my parents feel upset and nervous, because it meant the family was unable to deal with special situations. However, since moving to Chicago, my parents have found a job in a restaurant and are paid high salaries. It has made them relax and face with their lives with optimism.
In addition, I have an opportunity to get better education in Chicago, which is important for my future. Compared with the high education in China, I could easily feel the huge difference between these two countries. For example, the academic atmosphere is better than universities in China. Classmates are more willing to study and because English is a native language in Chicago, I try to learn to speak English fluently, which means thinking about things from another angle. What’s more, The U.S. has the best universities in the world. The education not only broadened my horizon, but also made me meet new friends from different countries. We usually have a lunch and talk about interesting affairs, making me know the different customs from other countries.
Finally, compared with life in China, my family could live better as long as they work hard in Chicago, because of higher salary and better welfare. Moreover, the relatively stable price of products also has made the living cost lower than China. In Chicago, my father’s salary can pay for the cost of my family, so my mother’s salary is put by for buying A car and A house. However, although there are multiple benefits of living in Chicago, my family also have faced stress that comes with living in a new culture. My family should try to learn English and know the customs in Chicago. For instance, my parents now study English in a Christ school in the morning and they also can meet some new friends. It could be regarded as a priceless experience. I hope my parents can enjoy their new life in the years to come.
Everyone has to make different decisions, which have huge influences in their whole life. Some decisions are positive, and some of them are negative. Regardless of the causes of decisions, people try their best to make life better. The decision, made by my parents, has caused a great ending of having a stable life, high education and experience a new world.

ReplyDeleteHi. I agree the education in the U.S is better than many countries. Sending money from the U.S to families who are in their home country is common application because the money value is bigger. I think deciding to live the U.S is hard but great decision for especially children's education.
